Weakley County quartet to combine in all-star game
After competing against each other for years, four Weakley County girls basketball players will have a chance to work together.
The Weakley County quartet of Westview’s Amber Rechis, Gleason’s Jenna Frazier and Kim Edenfield and Greenfield’s Katie McCall have been selected to play in the West Tennessee Golden Circle All-Star Classic this Saturday night in Jackson.
The annual contest pits the top recently graduated senior basketball players from northwest Tennessee against athletes from southwest Tennessee in an all-star game format.
The girls game is scheduled to begin at 6 on Saturday night at Liberty High School’s gymnasium in Jackson. An all-star boys game is scheduled to follow at 7:30 that evening, but no athletes from Weakley County are slated to compete in the boys contest. Cost to attend is $5.
Rechis, who is the all-time leading Lady Charger scorer and a signee with Florida Gulf Coast University, guided her team to the Class AA state tournament semifinals. McCall was a big part of the state-ranked Lady Jackets’ second-place finish in both the District 14-A regular season and tournament. Edenfield and Frazier combined to propel the Lady Bulldogs to within a victory of advancing to  the Class A state tourney.
Other members of the North All-Star team are UT Martin signees and former Gibson County standouts Heather Butler, Heather Griffin and Aubrey Reedy; Bethel signee and Bradford star Molly Wallsmith; Northeast Mississippi signee and Humboldt leader Patra Hubbard; and Peabody’s Raechelle Bolden.
