Paul Warren Bennett, 77, of Trimble died June 1, 2010, at his home. He had been employed by Nichols Engineering in Union City for 23 years and had later retired as Trenton’s city manager.
Graveside services were set for 12:30 this afternoon at Cool Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with Dr. Bill Oakley and the Rev. James Walford officiating. Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were to be James Page, Ricky Littleton, Chris Young, David Glidewell, Roger Wayne Page and Chuck Benjamin. Honorary pallbearers were to be James Batts, Brad Pate, James Morton and L.C. Nichols.
He was born July 4, 1932, in Hornbeak, son of the late John and Myrtle Bennett. He was a member of Trimble First Baptist Church and had been director of the Yorkville Telephone Co. for 22 years. He was also a Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Peggy Jean (Miller) Bennett; his son, Donald Bennett of Trimble; two daughters and his son-in-law, Paula Jordan of Dyersburg and Beth and Roger Dudley of Bradford; six grandchildren, Dustin Bennett, John Bennett, Daniel Bennett, Adam Pate, Hunter Jordan and Rachel Glenn; four step-grandchildren, Brad Jordan, Jessica Jordan, Seth Dudley and Kaitlin Dudley; two sisters, Marie Morton and Ruth King, both of Troy; and two brothers, Vernon Bennett of Union City and Sidney Bennett of RoEllen.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bennie Bennett and Jack Bennett; and his stepson, Blake Jordan.
