Bible School planned
Children who are “kindergarten-ready” through fifth grade ready are invited to share in an exciting week at the SonQuest Rain Forest Camp to be held at Calvary Baptist Church at 2250 East Reelfoot Ave. Monday through June 10.
Activities will run from 9 a.m-noon with exciting Bible stories, fun games, delicious snacks, bright decorations and creative music. A special Family Night will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. with hot-dogs, nachos and soft drinks served following a short program. 
Registration for this fun week can be done by phone at 885-2961 or upon arrival. For transportation inside Union City or for  information, contact the church office.

Church plans fund raisers
Bells Chapel CME Church, located at 207 North Highland Drive in Fulton, will host a yard sale Saturday beginning at 7 a.m. on the church parking lot. Tables will be available for rent to others with items to sell for $15.
The congregation will also be selling fish or chicken dinners  for $7. The menu will also include white beans, spaghetti, slaw, bread and dessert. Diners may also purchase hot dogs for 50 cents, ice cream in cup or cone for 50 cents and soft drinks for 50 cents.

VBS to begin
Liberty Baptist Church on Middle Road in Fulton will be hosting  “Wildwood Forest” Vacation Bible School June 9-12, from 9 to 11:30 a.m.  All children 12 years old and younger are invited to attend.
 
Sports camp planned
A Mega Sports Camp, “The Great Comeback,” is planned for June 14-17 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Union City First Assembly of God at 1810 Pleasant Valley Ave.
Children entering kindergarten through sixth grade in the fall are invited to enjoy the free sports camp, which will offer a choice of basketball, soccer or cheerleading.
To pre-register and hold a child’s first pick of a sport, call the Rev. Lori Eilers at the church office at 885-2612.

‘High Seas’ adventure set
“High Seas Expedition” will sail Saturday at Exchange Street Church of Christ, located at 420 East Exchange St. in Union City. “High Seas” Expedition fun will begin at 9 a.m. each day, with the expedition ending at 3 p.m. for children in rising-kindergarten through fifth-grade.
There will be new friends to meet, crafts, games, snacks, Bible adventures and music each day.

Gospel meeting planned
Fremont  Church of Christ, located on Highway 22 West near Union City and 2.5 miles west of Lake Road School, will begin a gospel meeting Sunday, with Hayes Grady bringing the message. On Monday, Cory Sawyers will preach and William Denman will tell the Gospel story Tuesday. Sunday services will feature Bible class at 10 a.m., with worship at 11. Evening services will be 7:30 each day.

Women’s Day
Bashan Baptist Church in Rives will host Women’s Day Sunday at 3 p.m., with Jasmin Williams of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Kenton as the speaker. All women are invited to attend.
The Rev. Rozelle Dotstry is pastor and the Rev. Paul Jenkins is assistant pastor.

To host singing
Bethel Baptist Church near Troy will host the monthly gospel sing Saturday at 6 p.m. A fellowship meal will follow and all are invited to enjoy the music and to bring a dish and stay for the meal, a spokesman said.
The Rev. Marvin Wilson is pastor.

To host gospel meeting
Vine Street Church of Christ at 802 East Vine St. in Union City  will begin a series of gospel services Sunday and continue through Wednesday. Richard Rose of Cincinnati will be the speaker.
Sunday services will be at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., with weekday services at 7 p.m.
Graham McGill, local preacher, extends an invitation for the community to join the congregation for any and all services.

Summer program set
Brown Chapel AME Church, located at 801 East College St. in Union City, will host a summer youth program for those who can benefit from tutorial programs in math, reading and study skills; in test-taking tips; ACT and SAT preparation; and college information. The program will be in place at the church from 4-6 p.m. weekdays through Aug. 1 and food will be served.
A special “movie night” is planned and details will be announced later.
The opportunity is free and will provide an excellent head-start for children and youth going back to school in August, a spokesman said.

Yard sale slated
The youth of Faith Lutheran Church at 2012 East Reelfoot Ave. in Union City will host a multi-family yard sale and a free car wash at the church Saturday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Proceeds will help send youth in the church to the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans in July.
Donations will be accepted for the car wash.

Church shares event news
Friendship Freewill Baptist Church at 1304 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Union City will be selling plate lunches with fried chicken, green beans and spaghetti for $6 Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m.
The church will also be observing the annual Men’s and Women’s Day Sunday. The Rev. Joe Phelps will be the morning speaker. At 3 p.m., Joan Blackmon will deliver the message.
“We invite all to come out and enjoy the services and to lift up the name of Jesus,” a church member said.

To provide catfish
PEOC Ministry, located behind Sav-a-Lot on East Nailling Drive in Union City, will be selling catfish and buffalo fish plates with cole slaw, white beans, dessert and beverage for $6 Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m. The community is invited to support this fund raiser.

To host mission team
Sunswept Baptist Church, located at 205 Sunswept Drive in Union City, will host a mission team from Henderson, Texas, Saturday -June 11 at the church.
The team will offer free quality used clothing Monday through June 10 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and June 11 from 8 a.m.-noon for those who enter the church through the door facing East Church Street.
The team visits each year for mission projects, including backyard Bible study and the clothing ministry and this year will also offer a Beth Moore Bible study — “When Godly People Do Ungodly Things” — Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. at the church.
