Matthew Leland Davis, son of Dr. Leland and Tajuana Davis of Union City, recently graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a bachelor of science degree in biology, with a minor in chemistry.
While attending UT Martin, he was named to the Dean’s List and was a member of the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi. He participated in the West Tennessee Healthcare’s Pre-Medicine Internship Volunteer program last summer and was also a member of PI Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Davis is now pursuing his education in medicine.

Chelsea Lynn Cox of South Fulton and Charles William Miller of Rives have been named to the President’s List for the spring semester at Union University in Jackson.
The President’s List includes full-time students who achieve a 4.0 grade point average on a four-point scale.

Several local students were among 191 who recently completed degrees or technical certificates at the end of the fall and spring semesters at Dyersburg State Community College.
Among those who received degrees were Natalie Lynn Seals of Hornbeak; Jessica Susanne Jones of Obion; Sarah Elizabeth Griggs of Kenton; Spencer Drew Minyard of Rives; Danny Keith Beard, Megen Leanne Haskins, Phyllis Jean Matheny, Anita R. Matheny and Lisa Lynn Zalsman, all of Troy; and Bethany Carol Cloar, Wendy Jo Cook, Jacquelyn Anne Morgan, Symantha Renae Reed, Kristie L. Smith, Lee Ann Spicer and Melissa Ann Young, all of Union City.

A number of students from Obion County were recently recognized for scholastic achievements for the spring semester at Dyersburg State Community College.
The Dean’s List honorees included Brittany Parker of Kenton; Maria Rodriguez of Obion; Jessica Swinford of South Fulton; Whitney Davis, Amberly Fussell, Kisha Kelly, Phyllis Matheny, Michael Quinton and Magen Warner, all of Troy; and Mark Hall, Elizabeth Hammersley, Chantella Jackson and Damon Shore, all of Union City.
To be included on DSCC’s Dean’s List, a student must complete at least 12 semester hours of college level courses during the semester and earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester.
Among those named to the honor roll were Brandy Orr and Natalie Seals, both of Hornbeak; Jennifer Smothers of Rives; Britany Potts of South Fulton; Jordan Barker, Katelyn Black, Chelsea Guy, Lauren Hayes, Alexandria Johnson and Andrew Kelly, all of Troy; and Amber Craddock, Tracy Guess and Melissa Young, all of Union City.
To be included on the Honor Roll at DSCC, a student must complete at least 12 semester hours of college level courses during the semester and earn a grade point average between 3.0-3.49 during the semester.

James R. Kelly of Union City and Jessica S. Jones and Kayla N. VanZant, both of Obion, have been named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.
To qualify for this distinction at MTSU, an undergraduate student must maintain a current semester grade-point average of 3.5 or above and earn at least 12 semester hours (not including developmental hours).
