Clinic 5 Winning pitcher Travis Rutland smacked two doubles, drove in three runs and scored on three occasions during a 4-for-4 outing for the Bankers. Knox Faulkner, Josh Floyd and Davis Odle both also had two hits for Commercial Bank. DC had Christian Cousar, Dylan Miller and Thomas Smith with a pair of hits each. Rutland struck out six en route to the mound victory. Andrew Thayer absorbed the pitching defeat. Parker Dotson and Camden Napper both saw action in relief. E.W. James 9, Westan 8 The Grocers put up a five-run inning in the fifth to overtake Westan. Eric Moore was 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Jordan Smith and Ryan Tucker both scored twice and Blake Dawson chased a pair home. Westan had Trey Goodlett with a pair of ribbies. Otherwise, Linden Scarbrough and Kane Taylor both scored twice during the defeat. Moore was the winning pitcher, striking out 12 and allowing just four hits during the complete game victory. Wade Victory, who had six punchouts, absorbed the defeat. UNION CITY CAL RIPKEN LEAGUE Major League High. Ground 4, Messenger 3 Kalab Dowell and Jacob Hyde knocked back-to-back clutch home runs in the bottom of the sixth to lift HG to the victor. All totaled, Dowell was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and two runs. Hyde also scored twice, while Matthew Atwill was a perfect 2-for-2. Winning pitcher Jordan Fowler struck out 12. The Mesenger had Will Sisco and Landon Alexander — who homered — with two hits apiece. The former scored twice, while the latter drove in a pair for The Messenger. Sisco absorbed the mound defeat despite a 15-strikeout performance. Jernigan 2, Coll. Spec. 0 Winning pitcher Jack Guess spun a three-hitter, striking out 10 and walking just two during Tuesday’s victory. Nathan King and Braedon Barnett, who also scored, each had two hits for the victors, while Tristan Jernigan scored once. CS had Clint Baker and Will Harris with a single apiece.
