James Grimes Posted: Wednesday, May 26, 2010 7:42 pm The Messenger, May 26, 2010 Completed arrangements are being announced for James Edward Grimes, 79, of Union City, who died May 24, 2010, in the emergency room at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Services will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home, with Wesley Jackson and Jeff Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tommy Grimes, John Grimes, Bradley Sellers, Cory Sellers, Jamie Suiter and Mike Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Garrett, Al Howell, Lonnie Grady, Scott Cooper and Leon Barber. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-8 this evening. He was born Dec. 10, 1930, in Gibson County, son of the late Charlie and Ida (Springer) Grimes. He married the former Martha Overall Oct. 11, 1953. She survives. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Bishop Street Church of Christ. He had retired as a general maintenance employee and a truck driver. Survivors also include two daughters and sons-in-law, Julia Kay and Bryan Ashley of Hornbeak and Lisa Carol and Scott Sellers of Union City; two sisters, Sylvia Hankins of Trenton and Nita Jowers of Dyer; his brother, C.B. Grimes of Montgomery, Ala.; six grandchildren, Beth Patton of Rives, Jessica Ashley, Cory Sellers, Bradley Sellers and Danielle Willcutt, all of Union City, and Toni Roberts of Clarksville; and seven great-grandchildren, Lane Patton of Dayton, Raven Patton of Rives, Briar Mize, Lela Tittle and Kylie Willcutt, all of Union City, and James Roberts and Aubrey Roberts, both of Clarksville. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Laura Rae Dwyer; two sisters, Mary Tom Cook and Marie Smith; and three brothers, Johnny Frank Grimes, David Grimes and Paul Grimes.
