Skyhawks left out
of OVC Tournament

The 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Tournament starts at Pringles Park in Jackson this week.
UT Martin will not be present.
The Skyhawks needed to sweep Austin Peay over the weekend to gain the sixth and final spot in the league tourney.
Instead UTM lost all three contests to the Govenors.
Tennessee Tech won its first regular season championship since 1997 and claimed the No. 1 seed for the tournament. As the top seed, Tech will receive a first round bye and not play until Thursday at 7 p.m.
Jacksonville State  cap-ped the season by winning seven of its last nine OVC games to finish as the No. 2 seed. The Gamecocks will play on Thursday at 3 p.m.
Meanwhile, third seed Murray State opens play with Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Southeast Missouri battles No. 5 Eastern Illinois on Wednesday at 3.

Fulton ladies tourney
scheduled for June 22

The “South of the Bo-rder” four-lady scramble is set for June 22 at Fulton Country Club.
The scramble, which has 18 team slots open, is to begin at 9 a.m.
Entry fee per team is $100 plus a cart fee and it can be sent to Beth Easterwood at 5180 Old Pierce Rd., South Fulton, TN 38257.

UTM soph. Owen
blasts HR record

UT Martin sophomore Jordan Owen closed out the 2010 baseball season with a pair of home runs in the final game of the year to set a new school record for most home runs hit in a single season (18) during an 11-9 defeat to Austin Peay.
UTM finished the year with a 24-31 record and an 8-14 OVC mark.
