The Messenger has learned of the death of Angela Renee “Angie” Carter-Turner, 52, of Detroit, daughter-in-law of Thomas Edward and Vonetta Turner of Union City, who died May 12, 2010, at 9:07 p.m. at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit. She was the widow of Thomas E. Turner Jr., formerly of Union City.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church at 13500 Wyoming Ave. in Detroit, with the Rev. David L. Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends there from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday. Barksdale Funeral Home in Detroit is in charge of arrangements.
She was born May 2, 1958, in Detroit, daughter of the late John and Robbie Carter. She attended the Detroit Public School System and graduated from Northwestern High School in Detroit. She also attended the Michigan Cosmetology School and was a faithful member of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors also include her daughter, LaTanya Carter of Southfield, Mich.; her grandson, Michael Jones of Southfield; her aunt, Bobbie Smith of Detroit; two sisters, Tawanna Carter and Cassandra Carter, both of Farmington Hills, Mich.; four brothers, Lamont Carter and John Carter, both of Detroit, and Ronnie Carter and Larry Carter, both of Lexington, Ky.; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, including members of the Turner family in Union City; several cousins, including the Holder family of Union City; and several nieces and nephews.
