Church to host events
Rush Creek United Methodist Church is planning 2010 Homecoming May 30, beginning at the 10:30 a.m. church service with the Rev. Hugh Barksdale. A potluck dinner on the grounds will follow about 12:45 and a memorial service honoring veterans will follow the meal, leading to the annual meeting of the Rush Creek Cemetery Association. 
Visitors are welcome throughout the day of celebration, a spokesman said.

Pentecost celebration set
Healing Faith Family Worship Center, formerly First Apostolic of Union City, at 2113 West Main St. will be celebrating, “Feast of Pentecost” Sunday. Morning services begin at 10 and immediately following there will be a fellowship meal with grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, side dishes, desserts and beverages. There will also be games for the young and the young at heart, according to the pastor, the Rev. Shane Long. He and the congregation invite everyone to join them for worship, food and fellowship.

Cane Creek news told
Cane Creek Cemetery in Obion County is moving into the mowing season and contributions for the property upkeep are needed, according to a spokesman.
Funds may be mailed to that fund in care of Pamela Jones Screen, 4778 East Caudle Road, Rives, TN 38253.
The church building has been standing for 157 years and was last the subject of restorative efforts in 1992 when a new roof was put on, the building was straightened, new windows were installed and painting was done inside and out. All this was paid for with donations.
The building is in dire need of more work, a spokesman said, adding that the roof leaks and needs to be replaced and the exterior needs to be scraped and painted.
A separate account, under the name Cane Creek Primitive Baptist Church building fund, has been set up for that purpose. Donations may be sent to the above address and marked for improvements to the church building.

To celebrate homecoming
Star of Bethlehem Assembly of God, located on Possum Trot Road in the Clayton community, will celebrate homecoming Sunday. Will Tittle of Dyersburg will be the evangelist bringing the message at 10 a.m. Faithful Heart will provide special singing following a fellowship meal.
The Rev. Chris Brady is pastor.

Special events planned
Cobb’s Chapel United Methodist Church, located on Shawtown Road near Hornbeak, will celebrate homecoming and Decoration Day Sunday, with Sunday school beginning at 10 a.m., followed by worship at 11.
A potluck meal will be served after the service and the cemetery association meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Donations for cemetery upkeep may be mailed to Mayme Denton at 3623 West Main St., Union City, TN 38261.
The Rev. Terry English is pastor.

Decoration Day set
The annual Decoration Day and homecoming services will be Sunday at New Ebenezer Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Troy. Sunday school will begin at 10 a.m., with worship at 10:50. A potluck meal will follow and the cemetery association meeting will begin at 1:30.

Bowling to speak
Decoration Day will be observed Sunday at Stanley’s Cemetery near the local airport. The Rev. Dennis Bowling of Union City will be the speaker.
The program will begin at 11 a.m. and a noon meal will be served. The business session is planned from 1:30-2 p.m., with special music and singing from 2-3.
Members of the finance committee are Angie Tate (Stanley), Jennifer Powers (Midway), Lucy Johnston (Union City), Tammy Rinks (Martin), Martha Brown (out-of-town) and Patsy McWherter (out-of-town).

Services planned Sunday
Sanders Chapel United Methodist Church will hold Decoration Day Sunday, with Sunday school at 10 a.m., followed by worship services at 11. The Rev. Judd Mowery will bring the message.
A potluck meal will be served at noon and a brief cemetery association meeting will follow at 1:15.
Local talent will be featured in a program after the meeting.
The public is invited to attend.

Yard sale set
Faith Assembly, located at 208 West Jackson St., in Union City will host a yard sale there beginning at 7 a.m. Friday. The church has recently moved its location from High Street.
The Rev. Danny Jones is pastor.

Revival to begin
Dr. Roy Southerland will be the evangelist for a revival Sunday through May 27 at 7 each evening at Walnut Log Baptist Church, located at 4836 Walnut Log Road near Union City. The community is invited to attend.

Mount Zion to celebrate
Mount Zion United Methodist Church will celebrate homecoming Sunday. The Rev. Hugh Barksdale, pastor of the congregation, will be the speaker and there will be special music at the 11 a.m. service, directed by Catherine Roberts.
A meal will follow and the annual cemetery meeting will begin at 1:30.
The public is invited to attend.
