Firefighters responded to a reported stove fire early today at Maverick convenience store at 420 East Reelfoot Ave. in Union City. The Union City Fire Department was summoned at 5 a.m., with the first firefighters on the scene reporting light smoke in the building and all occupants already outside. A police officer indicated the fire was out, according to an official report, which reported a fire extinguisher had been utilized.
Firefighters checked inside to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and then worked to remove smoke from the building.
