The Obion County Central FFA Chapter recently held its annual banquet to recognize students’ achievements.
Mary Helen Driver received the Star Greenhand Award. Greenhand Degrees were awarded to Miss Driver, Macy Allison, Blake Boane, Austin Bolding, Savanna Brown, Ashley Cook, Nancy Davis, Natalie Ervin, Joe Fultz, Carmen Garcia, Justin Green, Jo Hamilton, Cortney Johnson, Travis Pruett, Jessie Robinson, Tyler Sawyer, Lance Smith, Austin Todd, Diana Whitmore and Bret Williams.
Chapter Degrees were awarded to Seth Fulbright, Taylor Gooch, Cory Luther, Chelsey Mathis, Samantha Storey and Brooklyn Winstead. State Degrees were awarded to Lauren Berner, Tyler Berner, Hadeline Blurton, Chelsie Darnell, Ethan Jacobs, Garrett McDaniel, Mason Shumate and Emily Taylor.
Lauren Berner received a special Star CDE Competitor Award.
During 2009-10 competitions, the chapter received awards several awards in state, regional and district competitions including:
• Ag Sales — Sixth in West Tennessee and first in district. The team included Olivia Grady, Liesel Grossner, Samantha Storey and Emily Taylor.
• Land Judging — 14th in West Tennessee and second in district. The team included Lauren Berner, Rob Berner, Teal Ford, Rob Holman, Kelsey Barnes, Tyler Berner, Nancy Davis, Mary Helen Driver, Joe Fultz, Ashley Scarborough and Mason Shumate.
• Livestock Judging — 11th in West Tennessee and second in district. The team included Lauren Berner, Rob Berner, Mary Helen Driver, Liesel Grossner, Nancy Davis, Rob Holman, Garrett McDaniel and Lance Smith.
• Opening and Closing Ceremonies — Third in district. The team included Nancy Davis, Mary Helen Driver, Olivia Ferguson, Kayla Ford, Joe Fultz, Nathan Mayse and Lance Smith.
• Parliamentarty Proce-dure — Third in District. The team included Lauren Berner, Natalie Ervin, Cortney Johnson, Samantha Storey, Diana Whitmore and Bret Williams.
• Horse Judging — Second in West Tennessee and first in district. The team included Kelsey Barnes, Lauren Berner, Mary Helen Driver and Diana Whitmore.
• Creed — Third in state, first in West Tennessee and first in district for Mary Helen Driver. The alternate was Nancy Davis.
• Prepared Speaking — Second in district for Chelsie Darnell.
• Job Interview — First in district for Jacob Daniels.
• Exemporanous Speak-ing — Sixth in West Tennessee and first in district for Rob Holman.
• Quiz Bowl — Second in flight. The team included Hadeline Blurton, Teal Ford, Taylor Gooch and Spenser Maloney. The alternate was Nancy Davis.
• Lower Skills — Third in district. The team included Nancy Davis, Joe Fultz, Justin Green and Jo Hamilton.
• Upper Skills — Fifth in district. The team included Rob Berner, Devin Cranford, Jacob Daniels, Blake Dawson and BJ Laird.
• Dairy Judging — Third in district. The team included Rob Berner, Savanna Brown, Spenser Maloney and Haley Riggs.
• Nursery — First in district. The team included Rob Berner, Chelsie Darnell, Taylor Gooch, Nick Wilson and Jacob Daniels.
• Floriculture — Second in district. The team included Lauren Berner, Carmen Garcia, Cortney Johnson and Jessie Robinson.
The chapter recognized retiring senior officers president Chelsie Darnell and vice president Jeremy Green. New officers will be selected later in the calendar year.
