MMS seventh-grader makes history | Martin Middle School, Christopher Ables

Christopher Ables of Martin
For the first time, the Martin Middle School has placed in the National Geographic Geography Bee held in Nashville.
Each year, many students across the state travel to claim a prize in the National Geographic Geography Bee for a chance to then compete on a national level.
This year, Martin Middle School seventh-grader Christopher Ables brought home the bronze after a recent trip to the Geography Bee on the campus of Tennessee State University in Nashville earned him a third place win.
Ables was the winner of the MMS Geography Bee. He represented the school at the state level on April 9.
A 14-year-old from Oak Ridge took home the Top Prize and will represent the State of Tennessee on a national level in Washington, D.C.
This is the first time that a student from Martin Middle School has placed in the state competition.
Ables is the son of Julie and Charles Ables of Martin.
