Completed arrangements are being announced for Joy (Gatewood) Pleasant, 62, of Martin, who died 9:40 a.m. May 13, 2010, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. She was the sister-in-law of Wanda Mitchell of Union City.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Victory Baptist Church in Sharon, where she was a member. The Rev. Dan Burnham will officiate.
Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
She was born June 2, 1947, in Martin, daughter of Rozelle (Leggins) Gatewood of Sharon and the late Daniel Brooks. She was a homemaker and the widow of Lindell Ray Pleasant, whom she married Nov. 13, 1971. He died Jan. 31, 2010.
She is also survived by two sons, Scott Pleasant of Gleason and James Pleasant of St. Augustine, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Carlene Pleasant of Sturgis, Mich., Laura Pleasant of St. Augustine and Wendy Decom of Chicago; two stepsons, Darrell Pleasant and Mitchell Pleasant, both of Sturgis; two brothers, Kenneth Gatewood and Daniel Gatewood, both of Sharon; her grandson, James Ray Pleasant of St. Augustine; 13 step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her stepson, Lonnie Pleasant.
