An early missed opportunity sent momentum away from the Dresden Lady Lions’ dugout in their 10-0 loss to the Huntingdon Lady Fillies in the District 13-A Tournament Tuesday in Atwood.
In the top of the first inning, Jesica Parsley led off with a single, stole second and advanced to third on a Courtney McMillin single. It appeared Parsley scored the game’s first run on a fly off the bat of Maria Burkeen, but an appeal revealed she’d left the bag early to end the DHS threat.
The Fillies took the lead in the bottom of the first when Jaime Bailey singled and scored on a triple by Samantha Wilkes. Huntingdon added one run in each of the second and third innings before piling on six runs in the fourth. The 10-run rule went into effect in the bottom of the sixth.
Maria Burkeen and Kaci Robbins both doubled for Dresden in the loss. Jesse Jones also added a single.
