Mr. and Mrs. Hazen Price Hinds of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., are announcing the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Whitney Anne Hinds, to Brett Douglas Coble, son of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Coble of Concord, N.C. Mrs. Hinds is the former Anne Blair Hudgins of Martin.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Patricia Hinds of Knoxville and the late Jack Hinds and Mrs. Sally Hudgins of Martin and the late Ed Hudgins.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rogers of Concord, N.C., and Ms. Edith Lang of Rome, Ga.
Whitney is a graduate of Farragut High School in Knoxville, and a magna cum laude graduate of the College of Charleston in South Carolina with degrees in English and art management and a minor in theatre. She was one of four finalists in the country in a play-writing contest sponsored by the University of Chicago and had her play published and produced in Chicago, Colombia and Charleston, S.C. During her senior year oft college, she was the president of the Student Body and was voted into the college’s Academic and Leadership Halls of Fame. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She has performed in two plays of a performing arts group in Lafayette, Ind., and is presently technology chairman on the Alumni Board of Directors of the College of Charleston. She is employed by the Lafayette School Corporation as a school psychologist assistant in Lafayette. She has been accepted at the University of Pittsburg School of Law to study at their law school after teaching in the fall school year for the National “Teach America” program in Indianapolis, Ind.
Brett, an Eagle Scout, is a graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School in Concord, N.C. He is a graduate of the Citadel Military College in Charleston, S.C., with a degree in electrical engineering in the class of 2006. At the college, he was a Major in the third Battalion and on the Regimental Staff. He is now a communications and signals supervisor with the Norfolk and Southern Railroad Company stationed in Lafayette.
The wedding will be on Saturday night, May 22, at the First Presbyterian Church in Knoxvilie. On May 21, members of the bridal party will have a shower for the couple at the Apple Tea Room in Knoxville.
After the wedding, a reception and dance will be held at the Knoxville Cherokee Country Club overlooking the Tennessee River.
The couple will honeymoon in the Greek Islands of Sontorini and Paros. All friends and relatives are invited to attend the wedding and reception. wcp 5-11-10
