Posted: Friday, May 7, 2010 10:50 am Two students chosen by the Kentucky Lake Section of the American Chemical Society, Evan A. Baker of the University School of Jackson, and Marianela D’Aprile of Martin Westview High School, took the National Chemistry Olympiad Examination, a 90-minute multiple choice and 105-minute essay written test and a 90-minute laboratory practical at the University of Tennessee at Martin on April 24. This test will determine if these students qualify to become members of the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad team that will compete in the 42nd International Chemistry Olympiad IChO) in Tokyo, Japan, in July. Airee, professor of chemistry, coordinated the test. Participating students received copies of the Merck Index on behalf of the Kentucky Lake Section and the Merck Company.
