Rebel soccer team
knows playoff fate

The Obion Central boys’ soccer team found out its postseason fate on Wednesday.
The Rebels, who play at 6:30 tonight against South Gibson in the finals of the twice-delayed Gibson County Invitational at Rutherford, have to play their way into the Region 7 Tournament.
OC (5-6-1) will play at Covington on Monday evening at 5.
The winner of that game plays Westview on Tuesday at 5:30 in the regional tourney.

win by two shots

Poplar Meadows Country Club held its weekly scramble Wednesday with the winning team shooting 9-under par.
The winning team included Rick Smith, Matt Russell, Bobby Russell, Bruce Culver and Brad Dane.
Finishing in second at 7-under par was the team of John Slaton, Tyler Hayes, Grant Simmons, Larry Baker, Jason Miller and Kyle Baggett.
The weekly scramble begins at 5:30 p.m. each week.
The cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
The fee includes dinner.
Anyone interested in participating should call 885-3650 by 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Twister alum Speed
competing at state

Union City High School product Colton Speed is playing for a state championship.
The former three-sport standout and Class A Mr. Football finalist is on the roster of the State College of Florida baseball team that begins play in the Florida Community College Act-ivities Association State Tournament today.
The Manatees play today at noon against St. Johns River. Coverage of the tournamet is available online at www.psblive.com.
SCF won the Suncoast Conference regular season championship with a 33-12 record (19-6 in conference).

Possible OC golfers
asked to make call

Any eighth-graders planning to attend Obion Central during the 2010-11 school year that are interested in playing on the high school golf team are encouraged to make their intentions known as soon as possible.
Those interested in hitting the links as a Rebel golf team member are encouraged to call links coach Donnie Walton at 446-5115.
