Pleasant Valley Family and Community Education Club met recently at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church fellowship hall.
The meeting was brought to order by president Barbara Parker.
Secretary Ella Nunley read the minutes, which were approved. The roll call was answered by stating an Easter event that was special. Most members recalled a childhood experience such as getting a new Easter outfit, enjoying an Easter egg hunt and visiting with family and friends.
The devotion was given by Catharine Williams and was taken from Philippians. “God will supply all our needs.” Mrs. Williams told about her son when he was young and how he enjoyed playing in the park and how lucky he was to have a good childhood. She then talked about how good it also feels to do for others. She concluded by saying, “We all have gifts that God has given to us and it is good to share those with others.”
The program was given by Benita Giffin, Obion County University of Tennessee Extension agent. It was entitled Super Soda Solutions. She presented 61 uses for baking soda. Some of the uses included washing garbage cans, sinks and counter tops; taking a bath to relieve itching from such things as measles; and dousing fires. She said vinegar is good for a bug bite and to soothe sunburns.
The club prepared cards to send on the Day of the Family, which is May 15.
The club will meet again on May 19.
