Isaac H. Poore of Kenton was recently elected treasurer of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Student Government Association (SGA) for the 2010-11 academic year.
He will be a senior in the the fall and plans to graduate in December 2011. He has a double major in accounting and finance.
In SGA, Poore has served as Campus Observations Committee chair and is a Social Issues Committee member and UTC Environ-mental Task Force member.
He has worked for the student newspaper, University Echo, as a features article writer.
His future education plans include earning a master in accountancy degree and a law degree. He would like to continue working for Merrill Lynch and hopes to become a financial adviser.
Poore graduated from Union City High School.

The University of Tennessee at Martin Department of Communications recently held its annual Communications Day to honor the academic and extracurricular accomplishments of communications students.
Hunter Gierling of Union City received the Duke Dumm-WCMT/Oldies 95.1 Scholarship.
The keynote speaker for the banquet was Gene Policinski, vice president and executive director of the First Amendment Center in Nashville.
Several residents from Obion County are graduation candidates for associate’s degrees, diplomas or certificates from West Kentucky Community & Technical College, which will hold commencement Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Luther Carson Four Rivers Center in Paducah, Ky.
Among them are Missy R. Lynch and Melissa C. Nelms for associates of applied science; and Jess Marshall Grissom, Stacey Leigh Ann Haynes, Leslie Dean Jowers, Teri Lyn Powell, Jermaine RaShawn Thrash and David Lloyd Wilds for certificates.
