Veterinary summit scheduled Posted: Tuesday, May 4, 2010 8:01 pm The Veterinary Social Work Summit provides an opportunity for veterinary social workers, other mental health professionals as well as animal-related professionals from across the world to come together to educate and be educated, to network and be connected, and to strengthen and solidify this new sub-specialty of social work practice. The summit will be held at the Marriott Hotel in Knoxville May 13-16. Sponsored by the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, speakers from across the country will present topics on the link between human and animal violence, animal-assisted interactions, grief and loss, and compassion fatigue. Meal-time round table discussions are also offered. Continuing education credits are available. Registration costs $250 and includes breakfast and lunch each day of the summit and dinner at the opening ceremony. Space is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
