Police charge UC man

Multiple charges for alleged drug offenses and child neglect or endangerment were filed against a Union City man during his arrest Monday night.
Jeremy Dewitt Butler, 32, of 1121 South Second St., Union City, was charged with three counts of child neglect or endangerment, as well as possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with intent, possession of drug paraphernalia, promotion of methamphetamine and initiation of process of methamphetamine, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police served a search warrant at Butler’s home at 7:39 p.m. Monday. During a search, officers recovered several items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, in addition to finished meth and a bottle used in the final stages of the manufacturing process, police reported.
When the warrant was served, two children — ages 8 and 11 — were present. A 6-year-old also lives at the home but was not there at the time, according to the report.
Police said Butler was also in possession of a small amount of marijuana and rolling papers.
