The South Fulton softball team got into the no-hitter act on Monday as well.
On a day when the SF baseball team held Greenfield hitless, the Devilettes followed suit with a pair of 10-0 no-hitter triumphs over the Lady Yellowjackets.
Sara Reams toed the rubber in Game 1, striking out six and allowing just at trio of baserunners by way of walks.
Haley McKinney bragged of the no-no in the second contest with eight Ks and just one free pass.
In other Monday action, Union City rallied for a 5-4 come-from-behind victory over Trenton.
Today’s softball slate has Obion Central as a host to Fulton County for Senior Night at OCCHS.
SF 10-10, Greenfield 0-0
The Lady Yellowjackets had a tough time keeping Kacie Daugherty off the basepaths on Monday afternoon.
The SF infielder was a combined 4-for-6 with one run batted in and four stolen bases during the two no-hitters.
Otherwise, Katie Bivens was 2-for-3 with three RBI in Game 1, while Reams finished with a pair of hits and one ribbie.
Desiray Sturgeon also had a hit for SF in the first contest.
In the second game, Macy Maxwell, Savannah Larson and McKinney all drove in a pair.
Larson and Maxwell were both 3-for-3, while McKinney reached in two of her three plate appearances.
Chelsie Pitts also drove in a run in the second contest for South Fulton (26-9) as did Paxton Sisson.
The Devilettes host Westview, which has advanced to the Class 2A State Tournament in each of the past three seasons, on Thursday at 5. SF won an earlier meeting of the two teams.
UC 5, Trenton 4
Union City had a flair for the dramatics on Monday.
The Lady Twisters came from behind to score three tallies in the bottom of the seventh and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
Hannah Jackson singled to chase in courtesy runner Aranda Tate for the winning run.
Paige Fisher had previously tied the game with a two-run double in the seventh that plated both Taylor Hargrove and Angela Chesteen. Hargrove and Chesteen each singled to get on.
Otherwise, Allison Bruff had one ribbie in the sixth inning as did Katie Townes.
On the mound, reliever Karly Hollis was lights out during her time on the hill. The UC senior struck out nine and allowed no hits to gain the mound triumph. Katie Hawks started the game for the Lady Twisters (16-12).
Union City returns to action on Friday in the District 14A Tournament at Trenton against a yet to be announced opponent.
