The Messenger, April 30, 2010
Here is yet another scam to guard against.
Union City police confirm a woman was apprehended about noon Thursday in the Walmart parking lot approaching shoppers asking for donations. She allegedly identified herself to shoppers as Donna Bolden, one of the homeless people written about in last Friday’s edition of The Messenger.
She and her husband, Robert, were living in a small tent until multiple helping hands reached out to them after the newspaper article was published.
“It is an outrage. She used my name to get money out of people,” Mrs. Bolden said. “We never authorized that, we’d never do that.”
