Two local residents were charged with drug-related offenses Tuesday after Union City police investigated a Crime Stoppers tip.
Becky Jo Jackson, 50, and Tom Ferrell Peal, 56, both of 418 Adams St., Union City, were arrested at 4:50 p.m. on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and were released on misdemeanor citations, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police reported they had received a Crime Stoppers tip shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday alleging the drug-related activity at the Adams Street home. An officer and investigator who went there observed open windows at the home and reported they could smell an odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside.
Police obtained a search warrant and returned to the home to find some marijuana, rolling papers and a glass drug pipe in a kitchen cabinet, as well as some drug paraphernalia in a bedroom. Peal told police he smoked marijuana due to having cancer, according to the report.
