Cameron Nelson Boyd, University of Memphis freshman student, has been inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta National Academic Honor Society for freshmen and the Black Scholars Unlimited Honor Society. The Black Scholars Unlimited Honor Society involves high ability students in cultural and academic activities that assist them in developing career and academic goals while maintaining high academics for the 2009-10 school year. Boyd has met the qualifications required to be inducted into such prestigious organizations by having a 3.85 GPA and being involved in campus and community activities. He plans to obtain a degree in Biology with hopes of becoming a Pediatrician.
While at the University of Memphis, Boyd is involved in campus life and enjoys being of service to people. He is a member and newly elected Secretary of Empowered Men of Color, a PEER Power algebra/math tutor, a member of MAPS, and organization for pre-med majors, a member of Black Student Association, a Math Academy guide, a volunteer writer for U of M handicapped students and a proud fan of the U of M
Men’s Tiger Basketball Team.
Boyd’s motto in life is to be his brother/sister’s keeper. He inspires his peers to aspire to be the very best that they can be academically, socially and spiritually.
He is the son of Roy and Natalie Boyd and the big brother of Mariah Nicole who all reside in Martin, and the eldest grandson of Napoleon and Ruby Dickerson of Memphis, and the late Henry and R.V. Boyd of Mason. He is a 2009 honor graduate of Westview High School and a proud
member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church pastored by Rev. Alvin J. Summers who serves as one of Boyd’s mentors.wcp 4-29-10
