W’ridge ladies play
to start on Tuesday

Wynridge Greens in Troy will host a ladies scramble every Tuesday until the last week of July, starting next week.
The cost for members to play in the event is $10 each week. Non-members can play for $15. Both entry fees include dinner.
Prospective participants need to call and confirm their plans to enter by no later than 4 p.m. the Monday before each scramble.

Links fund raiser
on tap for May 8th

The Goodwill Shrine Club of Union City is hosting their first-ever fund-raising golf tournament on May 8 at the Goodyear Wingfoot Golf Course.
The tournament will be held in a four-man scramble format and the entry fee is $160 per team.
Refreshments will be provided as will a catered lunch.
On-site registration is set to begin at 8 the morning of the scramble. The tournament will start an hour later.

Jaycees to scramble
on Sat., regardless

Rain or shine, the sixth annual Union City Jaycees’ four-person scramble golf tournament will be played on Saturday, according to a club spokesperson.
The event is to be held at the Goodyear Wingfoot Golf Course.
The tourney is set to begin at 8 a.m. Lunch will be provided at the course at noon.

Troy native Boyd
records ace on 13

Bobby Boyd of Troy recorded a hole-in-one at Wynridge Greens in Troy on Tuesday.
Little used a gap wedge to record his ace on the 100-yard, 13th hole.
Witnesses to the shot were Dan Wiley, Pip Little and Teddy Montgomery.

Titans give chance
to tough USC back

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have signed Southern Cal running back Stafon Johnson, who suffered a nearly fatal weightlifting accident last year.
Johnson, whose neck was crushed by a weight bar in September, was signed after the NFL Draft on Saturday.
The Titans also signed Texas A&M offensive lineman Kevin Matthews, son of former Titans offensive lineman and Hall of Famer Bruce Matthews, to a rookie free agent contract.
Later on Saturday Tennessee signed former Ole Miss tight end Gerald Harris and former USC lineman Nick Howell, son of former Houston Oilers lineman Pat Howell.

SEC, Conference USA
to stay in Liberty Bowl

MEMPHIS (AP) — The Liberty Bowl has extended its agreements with Conference USA and the Southeastern Conference for the next four years.
The bowl announced the extension Tuesday and added that it has a contingency agreement with the Big East Conference that will give that league potential access to the annual game.
