|Trenton man under FBI investigation |

|A Trenton man and former contracted University of Tennessee at Martin ROTC instructor is being investigated by the FBI for accusations involving a minor. According to a federal complaint filed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, 29-year-old Joey Spellings, of Trenton faces accusations of transferring obscene material to minor under the age of 16 and using interstate "Internet Instant Messages" to attempt to persuade, induce, entice and coerce a minor female under the age of 18 years to engage in sexual activity. |
The alleged incidents occurred between March and April of this year.
According to an affidavit filed by FBI Crimes Against Children Special Agent Stephen K. Lies, the Trenton Police Chief received a complaint against Spellings when he allegedly attempted to contact a 14-year-old female using the Internet.
Spellings is accused of trying to incite the child into sending him images of herself naked using Internet email accounts.
The affidavit further states Spellings arranged to pick the victim up from a public location and taking her back to his house to engage in oral sex with the minor.
