Making bird feeders | Obion County 4-H
MAKE BIRD FEEDERS — 4-Hers across Obion County recently had the opportunity to create bird feeders by using rice cakes, bird seed and peanut butter. During 4-H club meetings, youth have learned the importance of maintaining a source of food for birds that do not migrate during the winter. Youth also learned how to identify birds by their songs. Bird identification exercises auditory and visual observation skills as well as increasing communication skills. Several groups participated in creating more than 300 bird feeders and providing food for non-migratory birds this winter. Among them were members of Josh Nance’s fourth-grade class from Ridgemont Elementary: (front, from left) Paul Cobb, JP Jones, Griffin Gibson, Kaelyn Morgan, (middle) Mason Pierce, Cole Bizwell, Violet French, (back) Trey Summers, Heath Cary, Melissa Esposito and Kari O’Steen.
