Martha Jane Scarborough, 92, of Humboldt, mother of Elizabeth Williams of Union City, died April 22, 2010, at Humboldt General Hospital.
Services were 2 p.m. Sunday at Leitherland Funeral Home in Rutherford, with her son-in-law, Dr. Bobby D. Williams of Union City, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bill Burks.
Burial followed in Bells Chapel Cemetery near Dyer.
She was born Jan. 7, 1918, in Dyer, daughter of the late Erice E. and Elizabeth (Barkley) McDonald. She was the widow of J.H. “Buck” Scarborough and was a lifelong member of Bells Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She had lived in the Bells Chapel community, prior to moving to Humboldt in 1996. Mrs. Scarborough was a retired employee of Kellwood Co. in Rutherford.
Survivors also include two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Joann Scarborough of Cold Springs, Texas, and David and Carnell Scarborough of Houston; four other daughters and three sons-in-law, Sarah and Harvey Frye of Winchester, Ky., Mary Ann Jones and Reba and Cleatus Woods Jr., all of Humboldt, and Diane and Fred Miller of Garrisonville, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two infant daughters, Janice Sue Scarborough and Nancy Jane Scarborough; and two brothers, William Edward McDonald and Erice Harold McDonald.
