The Westview High School Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) competed at state competitions on April 5-7 in Nashville.
The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science technology education students, therefore, helping students to meet the needs of the health care community.
Students attending include Amy Belote, HOSA President and 4th place in Prepared Speaking, Kassi Wright, HOSA Committee Chairperson, along with Kristin Riley, Dionna Alaba and Mercedes Rubio placed 3rd in Health Education. Charmelle Trice placed 3rd in Interview Skills. Samantha Byrd placed 4th in Medical Lab Assisting. Amanda Crowe and Rebekah Payne served as voting delegates. Megan Ables and Katie McKenzie took the National Health Care Issue Exam.
The Westview HOSA Chapter was recognized for participating in HOSA Week and the National Service Project “Autism Speaks.” Kassi Wright and Mercedes Rubio were recognized for completing the National Portfolio. The Westview HOSA Chapter was also awarder Gold Chapter Status.
Also in attendance, but not pictured include Mrs. Carolyn Glover, RN-BSN, chapter advisor, Mr. David Glover-chaperone, Mrs. Dawn Belote-chaperone, Mrs. Yvette Trice-chaperone and Mrs. Lindsey Parnell-chaperone. The WHS HOSA Chapter would like to thank all sponsors who made this trip possible. National HOSA Competition will be held in Orlando, Fla. on June 23-26.
