A local man sustained injuries Wednesday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a car in the 200 block of South Miles Avenue at East Church Street in Union City.
Jeremy James Joyce, 23, of 5857 Martin Highway, Union City, was transported by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City after being injured in a crash that occurred about 4:30 p.m., according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police reported Joyce was southbound in the 200 block of South Miles Avenue, approaching the intersection of South Miles and East Church Street. Meanwhile, Christopher Lewis Freeman, 37, of 1533 High School Drive, Union City, was northbound on South Miles Avenue, attempting to turn left onto East Church Street, in a 2010 Chevrolet Impala owned by EAN Holdings LLC of Tulsa, Okla.
Freeman told police he did not see Joyce and turned into his path. Joyce’s motorcycle struck Freeman’s vehicle head-on, according to the police report.
Police said Freeman was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
Freeman’s passenger, Prema Terry, 36, a resident of Fourth Street in Union City, complained of possible injury and was transported to the local hospital. Ironically, Ms. Terry was just injured April 16 when she was involved in a two-vehicle accident at North Clover Street and Everett Boulevard in Union City, which resulted in her being airlifted to a Memphis hospital for treatment.
