Central FCE Club met on April 23 at Cavi’s Restaurant in Gleason with 19 members and three visitors attending.
The meeting opened with the thought for the day “Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine,” by Anthony J. D’Angelo.
Dorothy Kennedy gave the devotional. She read III John and shared a funny story from “Holy Humor,” Pat Calhoun led the singing of “The Old Rugged Cross.”
Members celebrating birthdays in April were Evelyn Gallimore and Shirley Kemp.
Treasurer Brenda Winstead reported that checks had been set to the following organizations that the club has supported: Heart Fund, Cancer Fund, Muscular Dystrophy, St. Jude Hospital in Memphis, Weakley County Rescue Squad, Telethon of Stars (CDS), Agape House, Rolling Thunder (local VA), Carl Perkins Center in Martin, and 4-H Club.
Announcements: April 15 was County Council meeting with Dennis Kosta talking about the recycling program at UT-Martin; May 7 will be a bake sale from 8 a.m. at the Weakley County Courthouse; May 12, following our regular meeting, the club will take “Books for Newborns” to the hospital; May 15, in celebration of “Day of the Family,” gift baskets will be presented to two families; and June 6, the FEC County Council Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Dresden
Martha Lamb, vice president, presented our program, “Arthritis.” She shared lots of information in answering these questions “What Is It?” “How Does It Affect Us?” and “What To Do?”
Everyone enjoyed hearing Lexie Perry play her violin. She’s a talented young lady and the daughter of our member, Wendy Perry, and the granddaughter of our member, Carolyn Maxey.
