|Weakley County is one a hundreds of communities across the nation holding a town hall meeting to address the dangers of underage drinking. Parents are asked to join in the educational event that will focus on the impact that underage drinking has on the community. |
Chronic use of alcohol can damage the liver and heart and increase the risk of some cancers.
Reportedly, students who drink the most have the worst grades, according to a study at Southern Illinois University.
A panel of professionals will also reveal how much alcohol is contained in common energy drinks.
The event is hosted by the Weakley County Alliance for a Safe and Drug Free Tennessee.
It is planned for 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 29 at the University Boling Center in Room 230 on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Martin.
