Jaycees golf tourney
postponed until May 1

The sixth annual Union City Jaycees’ four-person scramble golf tournament has been postponed until May 1 due to the threat of inclement weather this weekend.
The event is to be held at the Goodyear Wingfoot Golf Course.
The tourney is set to begin at 8 a.m. Lunch will be provided at the course at noon.

Sid’s double-eagle
is highlight at Pop

Poplar Meadows Cou-ntry Club held its weekly scramble Wednesday with the winning team shooting 9-under par.
The winning team included Sid Chappell, Tiger Haag, Gary Gill, Jim Baker, Jay Bowen and Doug Bobo. The team’s highlight was a double-eagle on the Par 5 11th hole, when Chappell holed out from the fairway for a 2.
Finishing in second at 8-under par were the teams of Matt Russell, Bobby Russell, Brad Dame, Robert Hufstetter and Rick Smith; and the team of Bedford Dunavant, Bruce Moss, Rodger Tanner, Greg Dunn and Don Kvernas.
The weekly scramble begins at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. The fee includes dinner.
Anyone interested in participating should call 885-3650 by 2 p.m. Wednesday.
