West fills position

The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture has hired Dr. Ben West to fill the role of western region director for UT Extension.
Dr. West will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the outreach efforts of extension agents in the 31 counties that comprise the western region. Areas of outreach include agricultural programs, Family and Consumer Science programs and programs for youth, including 4-H.
West has served as associate Extension professor in the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries at Mississippi State University, as well as the national outreach coordinator for the Berryman Institute. He holds a doctorate in wildlife management from Utah State University and a master’s degree from Virginia Tech. He completed his undergraduate studies at UT Martin.
West officially begins as director on Monday.
