Westview’s Swaim
commits to UTM

UT Martin women’s basketball coach Kevin McMillan has put the finishing touch on his first recruiting class with a hometown product — Westview’s Grace Ann Swaim.
Swaim, the daughter of Mike and Ann Swaim, signed her National Letter of Intent Monday.
Swaim averaged 13 points and eight rebounds per game as a senior. During her four years as a Lady Charger, she helped the school post a .759 winning percentage (107-34). W’view advanced to the Class AA State Tournament the past two years.
Swaim joins previously announced UTM women’s basketball signees: Shelby Crawford, Rickiesha Bryant, Heather Butler, Perica Glenn, Heather Griffin, Beth Hawn, Jaclissa Haislip, Matrekia Minter, Jasmine Newsome, Aubrey Reedy and Megan White.

Martin Sat. 5K event
to benefit We Care

A 5K Walk/Run-A-Thon to benefit We Care Ministries of Martin will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at UT Martin.
Registration is to start at 9:45 in front of Gooch Hall.
UTM Greek organizations can earn points for participating. For more information, call 571-5604.

OC Jr. Auxillary Club
hosting healthy run

The Obion County Junior Auxillary Club will be hosting a 5K run/walk as part of their “Healthy Start, Healthy Finish” event on May 8.
The 5K race is set to begin at 8 a.m. at Union City High School.
There is no cost to enter the event and registration forms can be picked up at Star Physical Therapy.
Sign-ups will also be taken at 7:30 the morning of the race.

2nd SF alum game
set for Saturday

The second annual South Fulton softball alumni game is scheduled for Saturday night.
All past players from the SF softball program are encouraged to take part in the game that is set to begin at 6:30.
No admission will be charged to watch the game.
Those wishing to play are encouraged to contact current Devilette head coach Curt Lee at 479-8421.

Skyhawk softballers
to present camps

The UT Martin softball program will host two summer camps in June.
The day camp (June 1-4) is open to ages 6-13. It will run from 9 a.m. until noon daily. The cost to attend this camp is $75 per camper.
A hitting and pitching camp is set for June 1-4 each afternoon from 2 to 4 for the same age group. It costs $80.
Youths can enter both camps at a discounted rate.
The June 15-16 softball camp is for players age 14 through graduating high school seniors.
The camp will run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day. The cost of that camp is $125.
