Congratulations to Rotary Club Jr. Miss Royalty: Queen – Joelie Reynolds, 1st maid – Ali Barner and 2nd Maid – Carly Greer.
Congratulations to the girls that made the 2010-2011 Dresden Lady Lions Basketball Team. Members from the upcoming fourth grade are: Mahlese McDonald, Jazmyne Curtis, Nicole Leo, Mary Grace Davis, Cheron Latham and Adison Martin. Girls from this year’s fifth grade class are: Grace Finch, Callen Killebrew, Rylee Bell, Millie Bryant, Kasey Gallimore, Alex Sledd and Lauren Trout. Current sixth grade students are: Marlene Spivey, Katlyn Houston, Kayla Hayes, Carly Greer, Catey Delaney, Alexis Osteen, Hailey Browning, Jacqueline Ellis, Jessica Davis, Alexis Bell and Claire McAlpin. Seventh grade students that made the team are: Carrie Hatchel, Rachel Parnell, Aubrey Riggs and Lasha Evans.
Congratulations to all the student athletes that were received an award at the 2009-2010 DMS Sports Banquet. The cheerleaders that received awards awards were: Coach Award-Ali Barner, 110 Percent Award – Samantha Seat, Most Improved – Audrey Chappell, Most Spirited – Katlyn Ryan, Leadership Award – Candace Frazier and Academic Excellence – Katlyn Ryan. This year’s squad members were Alex Dunn, Kelly Meeks, Ali Barner, Fallon Baker, Maggie Owens, Katlyn Ryan, Joelie Reynolds, Samantha Seat, Audrey Chappel, Candace Frazier, Kaitlyn Norris and Belle Brackett.
Those that received awards for girls basketball were: Best Offensive Player – Amy McAlpin, Best Defensive Player – Carrie Hatchell, Best All-Around – Amy McAlpin, Most Improved – Carrie Hatchel, Aubrey Riggs and Kailey Martin. Hustle Award – Abigail Lockhart, Lion Award – Asa Woodward, Millie Williams and Haley Hart and Academic Award – Amy McAlpin. Manager for the girls basketball team was Britne Haynes.
Those that received awards for boys basketball this year were: Best Offensive – Austin Daniel, Best Defensive – Ben Kendall, Best All-Around – Austin Daniel, Most Improved – Brian Scott and Caleb Davidson, Hustle Award – Joey Caldwell, Academic Award – Ben Kendall, Lion Award – Brock Dilday and Coach’s Award – Kaleb Houston. Managers for the boys basketball team were Payton Erwin and Issac Lofton.
Those that received awards for football this year were: Best Offensive Back – Joey Caldwell, Best Offensive Lineman – Todd Morgan, Most Improved Offense – Austin Powell, Best Defensive Lineman – Brian Scott, Best Defensive Back – Dillon Jolley, Most Improved Defense – Austin Daniel, Lion Award – Blake Stoker and Brock Dilday, Academic Excellence – Ben Kendall and The Playmaker Award – Colter Swafford.
Those that received awards for cross country were: Most Athletic – Donovan Davis and Amy McAlpin, Most Improved – Kaitlyn Houston and Evan Palmer, Lion Hearted – Timothy Huestis and Claire McAlpin, Rookie of the Year – Rachel Parnell and Donivan Sawyer and Academic Award – Donovan Davis and Amy McAlpin.
Those that received awards for softball this year were: Top Pitcher – Abigail Lockhart, Gold Glove – Aubrey Riggs and Elizabeth Francisco, Silver Slugger – Abigail Lockhart, Best All-Around – Abigail Lockhart, Most Improved – Samantha Seat and Kayla Hayes, Hustle Award – Carrie Hatchel, Lion Award – Haley Hart and Claire Oliver and Academic Award – Callen Killebrew.
