Both of the Twister thinclads teams finished in third at the “Ballard Memorial All Comers” meet, according to results reported well after The Messenger’s press deadline.
The UC boys totaled 91 points, finishing behind the winner and host Bombers (152.5) and Heath (114).
The Lady Twisters finished with 79 points. Livingston Central won the girls’ meet with 115 points, while Mayfield was second with 113.
A total of 10 schools competed on the boys’ side and nine girls’ teams were present.
The Twisters controlled the sprint events on the boys’ side with Deondrez Williams winning both the 100- and 200-meter dash.
Kendrick Price finished sixth to earn points for UC in the 100-meter sprint.
Lee McCord, Chris Boucher and Waylon Willard all also got the Twisters points. McCord was ninth in the 800-meter run, while Boucher finished sixth and Williard eighth in the mile.
Dan Williamson got third in the two-mile, while Emory Whaley was seventh in the same event for the Tornadoes.
Relay action had Union City as the victor in both the 800-meter and one-mile relays. UC was also third in the 400-meter and fourth in the two-mile run.
The 400 and 800-meter relay teams were comprised of Williams, Price, Keontre Murrell and Jorge Guerri. Antonio Cox teamed with Williard, Guerri and Price to win the one-mile race.
The two mile-meter relay unit was made up of Guerri, Willard, Wiliamson and McCord.
In field event action, Chase Bowling claimed second in the discus, while Josh Nicks earned a like finish in the shot put. Antuan Powell also placed in seventh in the shot.
Jakyron Burnside leaped into a sixth-place finish in the high jump.
The Union City girls’ team was paced by Jasmine Dysart, who won the shot put.
Other top Lady Twister field performers were Mykeya Brown (fourth in discus), Amber Smith (seventh in discus) and Aranda Tate (fifth in the long jump.)
Speedster Paige Fisher gave Union City a bronze medalist in the 100-meter dash, while teammate and fellow senior Karly Hollis was eighth in said event.
Sadie Hollis came across the 200-meter finish line in fifth, while Destiny Powers and Brandy Henry were third and fourth, respectively, in the 400-meter run.
UC’s Allison Bruff was second in the two-mile run.
In girls’ relay action, Union City was second in both the 400- and 800-meter races.
The Lady Twister one-mile team came in third, while the two-mile relay quartet was fourth.
Karly Hollis, Essence Huff, Shenisha Huff and Fisher made up the 400- and 800-meter relay teams.
The one-mile team was comprised of Sadie Hollis, Powers, Henry and Tate. Kaitlyn Wheeles and Bruff joined Powers and Sadie Hollis for the two-mile relay.
Union City is scheduled to participate in a quad meet Thursday at Dyersburg.
