Two drivers were injured Friday morning when their vehicles collided at Everett Boulevard and West Main Street in Union City.
Jennifer D. Jackson, 26, of 115 Taylor St., South Fulton, and Patricia Lynn McWherter, 46, of 4518 Crystal Road, Union City, were both taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City for treatment of apparently minor injuries following a two-vehicle crash about 10:55 a.m., according to a Union City Police Department report.
Ms. Jackson was transported by ambulance and Ms. McWherter by private car. No injuries were reported to Ms. Jackson’s three passengers.
Police reported Ms. Jackson was southbound on Everett Boulevard, approaching the intersection with West Main Street. She told officers she had the green light to proceed and claimed a white vehicle on West Main Street pulled into her lane, causing the crash with her 2001 Chevrolet Impala.
Ms. McWherter told police she was eastbound on West Main Street and had stopped at the intersection with Everett Boulevard. She told police her foot must have slipped off the brake, causing her 2007 Ford Focus to enter the intersection and causing the wreck.
A witness also told police that Ms. McWherter had stopped at the intersection and then proceeded, adding that it appeared she was talking on a cell phone, according to the report.
Ms. McWherter was charged with a red light violation and expired registration, police reported.
