UCMS soccer team
blanks Gibson Co.

The Union City Middle School soccer team squared its spring record at 3-3 with a 6-0 shutout of Gibson County Tuesday afternoon.
Cesar Landeros was the offensive star for the Jr. Tornadoes, scoring four of the winners’ six goals.
Devin King and Noel Mejia also found the net for UC.
Jackson Bruff and Will Thralls combined on the goalkeeping shutout for the locals.
A makeup game remains a possibility on Union City’s future schedule with postseason play slated for later this month.

Local tennis tourney
to help United Way

The United Way Obion County Tennis Tournament is scheduled for May 14-16 a the Union City Middle School Courts.
The event is open to all ages with for children, teenagers and adults.
The tourney will include singles, doubles and mixed doubles competition.
Entry fee, which must be received by May 7, is $15 plus a can of yellow Penn or Wilson USTA-approved tennis balls per event entered.

UCHS grad Chandler
a champ at Union

The Union University men’s golf team with former Union City High School standout Ryan Chandler on the links captured the 2010 TranSouth Conference Golf Tournament championship.
Milan native and Union senior, Clay Mallard was the only player under par. Mallard won the individual title with a three day total of 214 .Chandler finished eighth place with a score of 223.
