Greenfield tennis keeps Lady Chargers in check
The only two tennis teams in Weakley County squared off on Thursday at Skyhawk Courts on the UT Martin Campus.

At No. 1 singles, Lady Jacket Katie McCall downed Chloe Nance, 8-2. At No. 2 singles, Mallory Robinson handled Lady Charger Ashleigh Ary, 8-3.
The Lady Jackets also cruised to victory at No. 3 singles, where Haley Perkins stopped Melissa Darroch, 8-1.
By the identical 8-1 score, Greenfield’s Meagan Porter defeated Cara Burnham at No. 4 singles, and the GHS duo of Robinson and Porter, playing at No. 2 doubles, defeated Westview’s Ary and Burnham, 8-1.
Lady Jacket Emily Allen shut out her WHS foe, Shantia Brown, 8-0, at No. 5.
The GHS duo of McCall and Perkins, playing at No. 1 doubles, blanked Lady Chargers Nance and Darroch, 8-0.
In other action that did not count toward the overall results, No. 6 Lady Jacket Hannah Mosely held off Lady Charger Brooklyn Burress, 8-5.
At No. 7 singles, Greenfield’s Taylor Hatcher beat Dylan Brown, 8-0.
At No. 8 singles, Greenfield’s Kalee Kesterson won over Alexis Beverly, 6-2.
A pair of matches weren’t finished due to time constraints. At No. 9, Lady Charger Jennifer Hollis and Greenfield’s Callie Croom were deadlocked at 6-6. At No. 10, Westview’s Hollis, playing her second consecutive match, was knotted with McCall Scates, 5-5, when time ran out.
In exhibition doubles, Westview’s tandem of Brown and Burress defeated Kendell Cook and Brittany Ricketts, 6-0. Also, Lady Chargers Brown and Beverly withstood a rally try by Ashton Pence and Bethany Cole to win, 6-5. Pence and Cole fought back from a 5-1 deficit to forge a 5-5 tie before Brown and Beverly won the deciding game.
Westview (4-6) and Greenfield (10-0) will meet again at 3:15 on Monday afternoon at UT Martin.
