Retired teaches hold meeting

The Weakley County Retired Teachers Association held its quarterly meeting at Cavi’s Restaurant in Gleason on March 24 with 16 members and two guests present.
President Jerry Simmons called the meeting to order. Secretary Sarah Willingham gave the report on the December meeting. Betty Cannon gave the treasurer’s report. She also reported dues are due in June. Billy Ross, pastor of Thompson Creek Baptist Church in Como, gave the devotion. Speaker was Jeff Kelly, assistant school superintendent, gave an update on Weakley County Schools.
On August 30 at 6:30 p.m., the Woodmen of the World of Gleason will have a meal for all retired teachers at their lodge on Bell Store Road.
The next meeting will be held on June 23 at Cavi’s Restaurant. The Bank of Gleason will be treating all retired teachers of Weakley County to lunch.
