There are lots of Presindential curiosities and here is one to our readers called The 50-Year Scandal Cycle.
Every 50 years a major scandal has rocked the presidency. In the early 1870s, President Ulysses S. Grant was victimized by the “gold conspiracy” of James Fisk and Jay Gould. Members of his administration were implicated in the Credit Mobilier and Whiskey Ring scandals. In the early 1920s, President Warren G. Harding died just as his administration was about to be engulfed in the Teapot Dome scandal and other improprieties. Of course, in the early 1970s, Watergate destroyed the presidency of Richard Nixon. Brace yourself for the early 2020s. wcp 4-13-10
