Elvester McFarland, 87, of Hickman, Ky., died April 8, 2010, at Union City Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be noon Tuesday at Johnson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, with Bishop Fredrick Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Hickman City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday.
Strong Funeral Home in Hickman is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Corinth, Miss., daughter of the late Ozell and Mary Eckford. She was the wife of Willie McFarland, who survives, and had been a member of Johnson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for several years before becoming a member of Church of Christ Divine in Union City.
Survivors also include six sons, Willie McFarland and James McFarland, both of Hickman, George McFarland of South Fulton, Troy McFarland of Chicago, Curtis McFarland of Fulton and Scott McFarland of Atlanta; seven daughters, Josephine Warren of Hickman, Stella Browning of Union City, Vivian McFarland of Fulton, Ethel Sherrill of Dolton, Ill., Jeanette Martin and Kathleen McFarland, both of Paducah, and Brenda Talbert of Merrillville, Ind.; and 45 grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy Sanders, and four brothers and three sisters.
