‘Peace, Love and Happy Children’

‘Peace, Love and Happy Children’
Each year, two counties join together in an effort to promote a good cause and at the same time, discover what each county has to offer to its residents.
This year, Weakley and Obion countians will dig out their bell bottoms and hippie sunglasses for the 6th annual Taste of Weakley and Obion Counties that is themed, “Peace, Love and Happy Children.” The event is a marriage of area artists, businesses, restaurants and residents in an effort to help raise money for the multi-county Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse agency.
Individual tickets and sponsorship tables are being sold for the “retro” gala which will feature restaurants from both counties offering fine food and sweet treats.
Attendees of the “Peace, Love and Happy Children” gala have a chance to bid on various silent auction items donated by local artisans and area businesses.
Everyone who attends is encouraged to take a ride through time and feature their best retro-wear in a chance to win a prize basket for their hippie efforts.
Reserve and sponsor table prices begin at $250 for a table of 8. Other prices include advertisements in the event’s program and goody bags for each sponsored table.
Individual ticket prices are $25 each. There is also a live auction planned for the event as well as “groovy” music and funky decor.
“Peace, Love and Happy Children,” is set for 6 p.m. on April 24 at the Volunteer Distributing Company in Dresden. Tickets are available by contacting any Carl Perkins advisory board member or The Center at 587-0768. To donate an auction item, contact The Center. Donations will be accepted through April 12. This event is the largest fund-raiser for the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse serving Weakley and Obion counties.
