Marijuana charge levied

A drug-related charge was placed against a Union City man following a traffic stop late Sunday night on Highland Avenue in Union City.
Dexter L. McKinney, 20, of 1088 Elm St., Apt. A, Union City, was arrested at 9:33 p.m. in the 1200 block of Highland Avenue and charged with possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana), according to a Union City Police Department report.
A police officer reported he stopped a vehicle due to a headlight being out and noticed the driver and passengers appeared “nervous” during the stop. Police utilized a drug detection dog at the scene, with the K-9 allegedly alerting on the passenger side back door.
One passenger, identified as McKinney, was allegedly found to be in possession of two small bags of marijuana, with one bag in each of his shoes, according to the report.
