Goodyear announces manager change

Goodyear Union City plant manager Todd Turner has been named director of global plant engineering for Goodyear’s Global Engineering and Manufacturing Technology organization, effective today, and will transfer to Goodyear’s headquarters.
Turner will be replaced by Terry Tennyson, general manager of Goodyear’s North American Tire allied plants. 
Turner has been the Union City plant manager since 2007. He started his career in 1984 with Goodyear’s former Engineered Products (EP) business, and worked in several EP plants in the U.S., before being named chairman and general manager of Goodyear Qingdao Engineered Elastomers Co. in China in 1999. Turner returned to the U.S. in 2001 as plant manager of the EP plant in Lincoln, Neb., and, in 2005, was named production director of Goodyear’s tire plant in Americana, Brazil.
“In addition to Todd’s strong engineering background, he has global experience that will be very valuable in his new position in GE&MT,” said Patrick Hurley, vice president of strategic manufacturing-NAT. “We look forward to his continued support of the NAT plants in his new role.
“Terry is a proven manufacturing leader,” said Hurley. “He spent nearly 10 years as production manager in Union City, so he knows the plant and the people and will be a great addition to that team.”
Tennyson has been in his current role since 2008. He joined Goodyear in 1973 and has been plant manager at the Danville, Va., plant; Goodyear’s Akron Innovation Center; and the company’s retread plant in Spartanburg, S.C. He has held a variety of production management and training positions at several NAT plants, including Union City, during his more than 35-year career with Goodyear.
