The Fortnightly Club held its regular meeting on Saturday, Feb. 6 in the home of Nancy Claybrook.
The group enjoyed visiting while delicious refreshments were served by hostesses Martha Kelly, Melba Wash and Nancy Claybrook.
A very informative program “The Healthy Woman” was presented by Lora McDonald, director of the Volunteer Hospital Wellness Center. She pointed out that it is good to make goals for ourselves, but goals without a plan are merely wishes. McDonald gave eight tips to work on, ending with “eat until you’re not hungry, not until you’re not full.” She recommended a helpful book for us to read – “Master Your Metabolism” written by Jillian Michaels.
Following the program President Frances Cates lead the group in the collect.
The minutes were read by Donna Jones and were approved. Roll call showed 20 members were present.
The treasurer’s report was given by Carolyn James.
There was no new business. The meeting was adjourned by the president until the next meeting on Saturday, March 6.
Members attending were Carolyn Brown, Ruby Brundige, Frances Cates, Nancy Claybrook, Jerrie Conley, Evelyn Culvahouse, Marion Fields, Mollie Gallien, Carol Gibson, Lynn Gibson, Carolyn Gresham, Carolyn James, Donna Jones, Martha Kelly, Dottie Smith, Nelle Sparks, Barbara Trentham, Melba Wash, Pat Watkins and Sandra Vincent. We were glad to have two guests, program speaker Lora McDonald and her daughter Blaine.
