Completed arrangements are being announced for Dovie Elizabeth (Tosh) Lancaster, 97, of Mayfield, Ky., who died Feb. 11, 2010, at Heritage Manor Healthcare Center in Mayfield. She had been a longtime resident of Union City.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Melvin Poe officiating. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bobby James, Wesley Thompson, Willis Easley, Kenneth Brooks, Frankie Cheatham and Thomas Watts. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Faith Sunday School Class at Calvary Baptist Church in Union City and Harvey and Shirley Evans.
Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Saturday.
She was born Aug. 5, 1912, in Carroll County, daughter of the late Joseph Atlas and Laura Ann (Campbell) Tosh. She was married to William Rudolph “W.R.” Lancaster Dec. 4, 1937. He died May 30, 1999. They had owned and operated Lancaster Market in Union City for more than 15 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for more than 50 years and had been a Sunday school teacher, nursery worker and member of the Woman’s Missionary Union.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William David “Bill” and Elizabeth Lancaster of Somerville, Ala., and Bobby Joseph “Bob” and Diane Lancaster of Mayfield; four grandchildren, Lisa Anne Schneller of McDonough, Ga., Kevin C. Lancaster of Decatur, Ala., Elizabeth Ann Davis of Auburn, Ala., and Joseph W. Lancaster of Knoxville; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers and her sister-in-law, Bernie Tosh of Fulton and Thonzie A. and Margaret Tosh of Dyer.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
