Art contest deadline extended

The University of Mobile has extended the deadline to Feb. 26 for entries of original artwork for the third annual University of Mobile Art Exhibition.
Judging the regional show will be Graham C. Boettcher, Ph.D., the William Carey Hulsy Curator of American Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art.
The competition is open to visual artists working in any medium except video, DVD or performance. Only original artwork is accepted. Artists must either be natives of or currently live in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee or Texas.
Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 26. An entry form and rules may be downloaded from the University of Mobile Web site at www.umobile.edu/art. The entry fee is $25 for up to three entries, then $5 for each additional entry. All works must be original and completed during the past two years.
Prizes include a $1,000 award for first place, $500 for second place, $300 for third, and three $100 prizes for honorable mention. The show will be open to the public April 11 through May 7, 2010, at Thomas T. Martin Hall on the University of Mobile campus.
